Angelo Mangiro and Andrew Nelson are both still a bit nicked up, but hopefully both will be able to play on Saturday. I expect that Franklin will keep Nelson at right tackle and Paris Palmer at left tackle. That (hopefully) will create a situation where Gaia and Mangiro can play the guard positions, with Wendy Laurent taking the center. I think that would be the strongest configuration possible for the offensive line, and against Ohio State's defensive front we will need it.
The possible return of Saquon Barkley is really the key to this game. Hackenberg has been finding his footing, and had a great game against Indiana. However, the combination of Nick Scott and Mark Allen at running back were considerably less exciting. Against a foe as dangerous as Ohio State, James Franklin and Christian Hackenberg will need every weapon at their disposal. Having a running back who is a constant threat to tear off a 60 yard touchdown puts infinitely more pressure on the defense to account for the running back on every play and bring safety help in low. That, of course, leaves more space deep for DaeSean Hamilton and Chris Godwin to make big plays.
Without Saquon Barkley, or at least Akeel Lynch, Penn State stands little chance against an Ohio State team that has everything to lose.
With him, though? I think we stand a puncher's chance.
